No spoilers, just a recommendation.
I like my adventure stories manic. Plot is good -- plot is very, very good, but it's better with fast-talking, blink-and-you-miss-it humor, bizarre/awkward sexual tension, and pacing that packs a whole lot of important info into a few minutes.
I reeeally like new Dr. Who.
The most recent episode ("A Good Man Goes To War," the midpoint of Series 6) featured all of the above. Well-fleshed-out characters in an admittedly absurd universe is one of the best things ever, and this installment was running its dark/giddy scenes by us so fast I thought it might've been an episode of Venture Brothers. (The quick introduction of several new, very minor characters who could well have incredible backstories also made me think of VB. I know Dr. Who is a beloved cultural institution and the other's an Adult Swim cartoon, but both exist in detailed scifi universes that ask the viewer to follow a whole lot of threads, and are all kinds of fun to puzzle about.)
Dr. Who is on break 'til September (returning with "Let's Kill Hitler"[!]) but turns out you can follow the showrunner on twitter, if you're that kind of nerd.
